Practical strategy tips
- Save a jack for a suit you cannot answer.
- Call the suit you hold most often.
- Use skips against the player closest to finishing.

Where the game comes from
The German name surfaces after the Second World War; the game itself is older and related to the European shedding games from which the American eights family also grew.
The special cards give it character: the seven forces a draw, the eight skips a turn, the jack calls a suit. Because each one breaks the flow, the game is less about emptying your hand than about holding the interruption until it hurts.
