Fleet Clash – play online for free
Fleet Clash is a hidden-information duel. Place and rotate your fleet, then use hits and misses to narrow down where the opposing ships can fit.
The game supports AI and online opponents, making systematic search and unpredictable placement equally important.

Sink the fleet
- Place your ships — drag them, tap to rotate.
- Take turns firing at the enemy grid.
- A hit lets you shoot again.
- Sink all enemy ships before yours go down.
Practical strategy tips
- Spread ships irregularly instead of filling one edge.
- Search in a checkerboard pattern at first.
- After a hit, test adjacent directions systematically.
- Use the shape of sunk ships to eliminate impossible cells.
Strategy
Place the fleet asymmetrically and leave gaps between several ships so one discovery does not reveal the next position. During the search phase, fire on a spaced pattern because longer vessels cannot occupy every remaining pocket. Treat misses as useful exclusions rather than failed guesses. Each marked cell should reduce the set of complete placements that can still contain an undiscovered ship.
After a hit, change from search mode to targeting mode. Test adjacent directions in a consistent order until orientation is known, then continue along that line. A hit grants another shot, so disciplined targeting can finish a vessel without yielding the turn. Late in the duel, compare remaining ship lengths with open segments and ignore spaces that cannot contain one completely.
Common mistakes
- Clustering ships predictably along one edge makes placement readable; vary their direction, spacing and distance from borders.
- Returning to random search after a hit wastes evidence; inspect adjacent cells in a fixed and efficient order.
- Shooting into spaces too short for remaining vessels loses turns; compare every open segment with their possible lengths.

Where the game comes from
Hiding ships on squared paper and calling out coordinates was a pastime among Russian officers before the First World War. Printed pads with ready-made grids appeared in several countries during the 1930s.
The appeal lies in incomplete information: every shot tells you something, including the ones that miss. Working outward from a hit in a systematic pattern turns the whole thing from guesswork into a search strategy.
Frequently asked questions
Can ships be rotated before the duel?
Yes. During setup you can drag each ship and tap to change its orientation. Firing begins only after placement is complete. Mixing horizontal and vertical positions irregularly makes the fleet harder to infer.
May I fire again after scoring a hit?
Yes. A successful hit immediately awards another shot. This makes orderly checks around the damaged cell especially valuable, because discovering orientation can lead to several uninterrupted hits along the same vessel.
Which opponents are available in Fleet Clash?
You can face the computer at a selected difficulty or play an online opponent. The hidden-grid rules remain the same; what changes most is how predictable the opposing search pattern and placement choices become.
Why play Fleet Clash on FunPort?
- Every miss reduces the space of possible hidden positions.
- Hit streaks reward systematic targeting instead of blind guessing.
- Secret placement blends logical deduction with deliberate misdirection.
